The Cricket World Cup is an event that happens every four years and is the biggest honor that a nation can get in the sport of Cricket. It is an event that everyone wants to win and only a few have managed to do so. There are a few countries who have lifted the World Cup.

They even reached the final in 1996 showing what an iron grip they had on the game of cricket for an entire decade or more. They were the best team in the world, without a question, and no one even came close to them in those World Cup wins.
Recently, the World Cup was played in the sub continent, specifically India, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh. The World Cup was won by Sachin Tendulkar and India. This was their second World Cup win and their first on home soil. They were the pre tournament favorites and lived up to their billing by winning some tough games against Australia, Pakistan and Sri Lanka en route to their tournament victory.
The Cricket World Cup is the most prestigious prize in Cricket and is something that has continued to increase in popularity. More countries have joined the cricketing nations to take part and nations such as the Netherlands, Ireland, Scotland, Kenya and Canada have all had minor successes in matches at Cricket World Cups. It is truly on route to becoming a more global sport. However, the passion that nations such as India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Australia have for cricket will never be matched anywhere else.
